What To Expect Tesla's in-house Lithium Refinery is located in the greater Corpus Christi area of Texas. This investment is critical to our mission to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy and represents our efforts to aggressively increase the supply of battery-grade lithium hydroxide available in North America. We are seeking a Lead Technician to lead a team of QC Lab Technicians to further our mission. The person will exercise exceptional people management, communication, and technical skills to conduct sample testing, coordinate lab tasks, and interact with the production and developmental team on shift. The proven track record of agility in responding to quality related issues and working with the manufacturing team to maintain the control of product quality is critical to this position. The person is expected to bring the best performance out of each technician on the team.
What You'll Do
Comply with company Regulations and Policies while promoting the safety culture in the lab
Work with EHS on compliance, waste management, MOC and chemical hygiene related activities of the lab
Manage the workflow and track analysis status for all incoming samples to ensure quick turnaround
Perform sample analysis, materials characterization, and lab equipment (ICP, IC, Titration, PSA, XRD, XRF etc.) troubleshooting to ensure smooth lab operation, while optimizing the test method and lab activities to improve test turnaround and operational efficiency
Develop test schedule and assign tasks to the lab team for each day/shift and provide training to qualify new lab technicians while maintaining a clean lab space via 5S principles
Manage the LIMS operation in the lab through integration of lab equipment and different manufacturing applications
Document and record data in the designated database for team access and easy reference and drive the calibration and maintenance program for all the QC lab equipment, while coordinating and communicating with production and other stakeholders to provide better analytical supports
What You'll Bring
Degree in Engineering, Science or equivalent experience
At least 4 years of experience in a Manufacturing Quality Control environment
Experience leading a team in a fast-paced industrial setting
Strong competency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Demonstrate meticulous organizational and data management skills
Strong sense of safety and be able to work independently or with others
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and have command of the English language, both written and verbal
