He was a member of Woodland United Methodist Church, active in Quivera Council Scouting and never met a stranger. He loved to play piano, especially the Honky Tonk New Orleans Jazz, and travel.

After retiring from full-time teaching to raise her family, in 1988, Sandy returned to work as a substitute elementary teacher, serving USD 259 until 2014, and becoming one of the most adored and highly requested substitute teachers in the city. She also cherished every moment of her eight years as "first lady of District while Bob served on the City Council. Preceded in death by husband, Robert; daughter, Ann; father, Herbert. McKown, Harold Preston, 79, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle went to meet his Lord and Savior on Friday, June 19, 2015. Harold was born in Hartford, AR on Oct. 16, 1935. He was employed by Cessna Aircraft for 39 years, achieving the role of superintendent of tooling. Faith, family and friends meant the world to him as he and his wife of 58 years, raised their 4 children and watched their 6 grandchildren grow.

He enjoyed woodworking and crafting with his wife. Preceded in death by his wife, Sondra McKown; children, Vicki Sue McKown and Randall Ross McKown; parents, Mae and Jesse McKown. Survived by his children, Michael (Janice) McKown, Sherry (Daniel) Dolezal, all of Wichita, and Shelly (David) Balleau of Evergreen, CO; grandchildren, Chad and Shawn McKown, Christopher, Jennifer, and Matthew Dolezal, and Victoria Balleau; and brother, James (Jackie) McKown. She grew up in Kingman and later moved to Wichita after she graduated from Kingman High School. She married Robert "Bob" Hart and they had 2 children, Phil and Jon. After Bob passed away in 1964, she married Alton "Al" Newland in 1970. After they retired, they moved to Warsaw, MO where they loved to fish and entertain. When Al passed away, Marj moved back to Wichita and lived many happy years at Maple Gardens Apartments.

Marj loved Indian art work and loved to ride horses. She was a long standing member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority and founded a chapter in Warsaw. She was a member of West Heights United Methodist church. Marj found the best in everyone and enhanced beauty in others for nearly 50 years through cosmetic consultancy at several of best stores. She is survived by her two sons, and by three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held July 3, at Maple Gardens; in lieu of flowers, please make contributions to your local Humane Society. Nichols, Robert Sam 59, passed away on Monday, June 22, 2015. Chapel Service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 29, 2015, at Wulf- Ast Mortuary Chapel in Colwich, KS. Graveside Service will be held at 11 a.m.
